Lake Phalen is the centerpiece of St Paul’s largest regional park. It features one of the city’s largest lakes, miles of pedestrian and biking trails, a golf course, tennis courts, and a recreation center.

Lake Phalen
Lake Phalen is a popular spot for joggers, walkers, cyclists and roller skaters. It’s encircled by a 3.1 mile path that offers views of the water from many spots.
In addition, there are built and natural features such as a playground, splash pad and waterfall that park users enjoy and value. These are all features that help people feel more comfortable and included as part of the “public” that parks serve.
During the research, we discovered that people from diverse groups felt they were included and respected at the park in ways that were not often found elsewhere. This is a crucial aspect of how public facilities can be used to bring people from different communities together.
Picnic Areas

Hidden Falls Park was chosen by Horace Cleveland, a nationally recognized landscape architect and park planner, as one of four major park sites for the city in 1887. It features a small spring-fed waterfall and has been enhanced over the years.
The park has about 6.7 miles of paved trails that lead through wooded bottomlands and scenic picnic areas along the Mississippi River. Biking Trails
Phalen Regional Park St Paul MN offers a variety of biking trails. This park has paved and unpaved bike paths around Lake Phalen, which is one of St Paul’s largest lakes.
If you’re looking for a scenic ride, try the Sam Morgan Trail, which connects Hidden Falls Regional Park and Indian Mounds Regional Park on the north side of the Mississippi River. It has wonderful views of the Mississippi and downtown Saint Paul.
There are also paved multi-use trails at Crosby Farm, which has almost 7 miles of hiking and biking trails through woods, wetlands and along two lakes. It’s one of the City’s most popular parks, with hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
Golf Course
If you’re a golfer, you’ll be pleased to know that Phalen Regional Park St Paul MN is home to a beautiful 18 hole course. The course is an interesting and challenging game of golf that stretches along the west side of Lake Phalen.
The course is 6,100 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 122. This makes the course a great option for golfers of all abilities.
Its par of 70 is not too difficult for most players. However, the course does have numerous doglegs, water hazards and bunkers to contend with.
The golf clubhouse offers a bar, quality food service and a banquet room that can be rented for special occasions. It also hosts three state-of-the-art indoor golf simulators.
Events
Located on the east side of St Paul MN, Phalen Regional Park is a popular spot for fishing, boating, swimming, biking, golf, picnics and more. It is home to a 494 acre swimming lake and offers 3.2 miles of hiking/biking trails and 10 kilometers of cross country ski paths.
Moreover, the park also features a recreation center, sports courts and barbecue grills that make it an excellent destination for various recreational activities. The facility is accessible to all ages and has several routes that are ideal for scenic afternoon walking and biking.
The park is also home to the China Friendship Garden, which is a sister to Changsha’s Yanghu Wetland’s Park.
